- Description of the environment: Hardheim is located on the eastern edge of the Odenwald in the border triangle of Baden-Württemberg, Bavaria and Hesse. Still located in Baden, it is only a few kilometers to the Main. The parking space is in the immediate vicinity of the Erfa river, which flows into the Main near Bürgstadt. From a topographical point of view, the landscape is extremely attractive, because in Hardheim the two geological rock layers of Muschelkalk and Buntsandstein meet. In the Buntsandstein, steep wooded valleys dominate the picture, while in Muschelkalk a more open and hilly landscape with agriculture predominates. Green kernel cultivation is typical for agriculture in building land. Grünkern is unripe spelled that is smoked over beech wood and preserved in this way. Grünkern dishes are a specialty of the region.
