Idyllically located in the Salzach loop and characterized by the Italian-style Inn-Salzach architectural style, the 1,250-year-old town of Laufen is an insider tip for visitors interested in culture and history. The sights include the filigree Art Nouveau state bridge, which connects Laufen with Oberndorf, the first performance location of the Silent Night Song, connects the imposing collegiate church and the old town with its time-honored shipowners' houses, the narrow streets and cozy squares as well as the Europa-Steg, built in 2007.
The Bavarian foothills of the Alps that surround Laufen offer numerous opportunities for active vacationers, as well as for visitors who simply want to relax and enjoy nature.
Hike, cycle, skate around Lake Abtsdorf or do Nordic walking, go on cycle tours along the Salzach, through beautiful meadow landscapes or over rolling hills.
