The over 800-year-old Posterstein Castle, located at the tripoint of Thuringia, Saxony, and Saxony-Anhalt, is a regional history museum with diverse exhibits – from the castle's history to the salon of the Duchess of Courland. Boys and girls can explore the "Children's Castle" with a treasure map. The tower offers a fantastic view over the Sprotte Valley. Several hiking trails pass by Posterstein Castle.

- Description of the environment: A hilly area in the idyllic Thuringian Sprottental valley. Numerous cycling and hiking trails pass through Posterstein, including the Thuringian Trail (a long-distance hiking trail), the Thuringian Towns Chain cycling route (connecting to other cycle paths), the Luther Trail, the Holzmichel Trail around Posterstein, and the Sprotte Water Adventure Trail (a water adventure trail) along the Sprotte River to Nöbdenitz and Schmölln. The hike to Nöbdenitz train station or to the 1000-year-old oak tree in Nöbdenitz takes approximately 30-60 minutes.
