The Renchtal holiday region with the towns of Oberkirch, Lautenbach and Oppenau lies between the Rheinebende and the Schwarzwaldhochstrasse. In the sun-drenched and wonderful landscape you can enjoy the interplay between urban diversity and rural idyll: pure nature between vines, orchards and endless forests and meadows as well as varied and unique cultural events, such as the Oberkirchen strawberry festival and wine festival, the city festival in Oppenau or the wine festival in Lautenbach. Culinary delights tempt you in many variations: the top gastronomy pampers the palate with specialties from the traditional Baden cuisine. Nationally awarded wines as well as fine brandies and liqueurs from more than 1,300 schnapps distilleries are considered top products in the region. A special tip is the Oberkirchen wine hike, from April to October. A hiking trail equipped with many information boards leads past theSchauburg ruins through Oberkirch's vineyards: 4-course menu, 3 corresponding wines and 1 sparkling wine included.
On more than 1,000 kilometers of excellently signposted hiking trails, hikers can discover the Renchtal on their own – or together on guided hikes. Whether small excursions through the orchards and vines or long tours up to the heights of the Black Forest - we have the right route for every level of difficulty. The long-distance hiking trails Westweg, Ortenauer Weinpfad and Kandelhöhenweg also lead through the Renchtal and invite you to discover them. A special tip for all hiking enthusiasts is the quality hiking trail “Renchtalsteig”, which leads in 5 stages over around 100 kilometers from the vineyards of the Rhine Valley - via Mooskopf and Alexanderschanze - back over the Aller Heiligen waterfalls and monastery ruins to OberkircherSchauburg.
Centrally located, the Renchtal is the ideal starting point for attractive excursion destinations in the Black Forest but also in Alsace.
