The Wurzeralm is located in the southwest of the Upper Austrian municipality of Spital am Pyhrn. This means that the skiing and hiking area is also very close to the most important north-south axis, the A9. If you are coming from the south, you also have to pay the toll through the Bosruck tunnel in addition to the vignette. There is no additional toll from the north.
From Vienna, the best way to reach the Wurzeralm is via the A1 Westautobahn in the direction of Salzburg.
Coming from the west, take the A8 to Salzburg and continue on the A1 Westautobahn in the direction of Linz.
From Passau, follow the A8 to Wels Nord.
Whichever route you take: At the Voralpenkreuz junction, change to the A9 in the direction of Graz and follow this to the Spital/Pyhrn exit, turn right to the Wurzeralm.
