With the motorhome through Denmark

With the motorhome through Denmark - stellplatz.info

For many campers, Denmark stands for peace and the typical, “hygge” coziness, lots of nature, beach holidays and, last but not least, friendly people. Danish design, exciting Viking sites, tranquil harbor towns and the trendy and historically important capital Copenhagen also attract many holidaymakers to Denmark. Did you know that Denmark is full of elves, dwarves and small, friendly gnomes? A Nisse (from Danish) is a type of goblin that roams the Nordic forests and has its dens in the undergrowth. On your tour of Denmark you will come across gnomes, trolls, dwarves and goblins - not only in your imagination, but also while shopping. The little elves are presented in paintings, as figures or dolls.

Our motorhome tour through Denmark

If you drive across the border on the A7 near Flensburg, you can first orient yourself towards the North Sea. Your first destination could be the RV park “Ferienbauernhof Kulmbach” , whose operators will certainly give you a friendly welcome. From here you can quickly reach the North Sea by bike. Bicycles also play a big role on a tour of Denmark. Here in Southern Jutland, for example, it is worth visiting the old town of Tønder (Tondern) or Ribe, the oldest city in Denmark. We continue north, always along the North Sea, to the “motorhome parking space at Stauning Havn” . Ringkøbing Fjord is a huge body of water separated from the North Sea by a narrow headland. Sailing yachts and cutters can sail from the sea into the fjord in Hvide Sande. For many holidaymakers, a stop at the harbor in Hvide Sande is a “must” – including a fresh fish sandwich! Many windsurfers feel in their element on Ringkøbing Fjord: the wind usually blows strongly from the west from the North Sea. But the waves and currents in the fjord water are usually not as strong as on the open sea.

In between, relax with a sunbath in the dunes

Camping in Denmark

Would you like some refreshment along the way? Then it's time for a hot dog! You can find it in many places at one of the many cute beach shacks - really Danish with the almost bright red colored sausages (Pølser). And for dessert? Of course a delicious soft ice cream! As another beach break on the way to the Danish west coast, we recommend the motorhome site “Thyborøn Camping Hotel & hyttby” . You can really enjoy yourself for a few days on small, cozy pitches with lots of privacy. The camping area borders directly on a long, flat, sandy beach.

The sound of the sea in a motorhome – pure Denmark!

If you like, you can plan a detour to the picturesque banks of the Limfjord and Denmark's northern tip: in Skagen, the North Sea (which is called Vesterhavet, "West Sea" in Danish) and the Baltic Sea meet. This can often even be seen in the shape of the waves; the tides seem to be colliding with one another. The Skagerrak also impresses with its wonderful lighting atmosphere over the sea and sandy beach. That's why many artists are drawn to Skagen. If you drive back “down” the east coast of Jutland, you will reach the popular Aarhus. Denmark's second largest city impresses with lively pedestrian zones in the old town and a hyper-modern, walkable panoramic ring. The perfect parking space in Aarhus is the “Ega Marina motorhome parking space, which is located at the boat harbor.

Really relax with a motorhome in Denmark

Before we continue to the capital Copenhagen, a trip to Legoland in Billund should be on the agenda. The town in the heart of Jutland is easily accessible from both the North and Baltic Sea coasts. Even if there are no children, it's worth a visit. Numerous sights from Denmark and many countries around the world were recreated with millions of Lego bricks. Animals and fast-paced attractions also attract visitors. A parking space directly at Legoland is a practical matter, even if it doesn't offer much comfort. Unfortunately, the “Billund” parking space does not provide for a power connection or disposal of the chemical toilet. Appropriate preparations should therefore be made beforehand.

From the mainland, Jutland, you cross a rope bridge that almost reaches into the sky into the Danish island world.

Denmark by motorhome

The E20 takes you around 70 meters above sea level to the suspension bridge over the Great Belt. The toll structure of the century offers the fastest and easiest road connection from Aarhus to Copenhagen. Current prices and, if desired, online tickets are available on the website Storebaelt.dk

Copenhagen by motorhome

If you want to park your motorhome in Copenhagen at the harbor, we recommend the parking spaces at “Ishoj Haven and the parking space at “Hundige Havn . Both are idyllically located by the water. The “CPH Autocamp parking space is more central and close to the center. Copenhagen is a first-class university and cultural city as well as a world-leading cycling city. There are well-developed cycle paths almost everywhere. This means you can reach even the most remote corners of the city by bike. Have you always wanted to gaze longingly at the “Little Mermaid” across the water? Then be careful not to miss them! The statue is smaller than you would expect… But it's still worth it! Other highlights in Copenhagen: The changing of the guard at Amalienborg Palace, the ultra-modern opera house built on the water or the colorful houses at the historic harbor. Anyone who likes nostalgic amusement parks will love Tivoli. The atmosphere of Copenhagen is simply unique.

We go back over the Öresund Bridge to the island of Funen.

At the “Roedkaergaard Bed & Breakfast” motorhome parking space you can enjoy the evening sun and reminisce about your experiences in Copenhagen. Depending on your mood, you can spend a few more days by the sea here. We then head back towards Flensburg via southern Jutland.

Would you like to find out more about Vikings on the way back?

The famous rune stones are in Jelling. They are reminiscent of strong Viking kings. One of the most powerful was Harald Bluetooth. The Vikings sailed across the world's oceans in their dragon boats without satellite navigation or the Internet. But its symbolism extends to modern times: “Bluetooth” technology was named after King Bluetooth. His rune has become an important symbol of modern technology!

A piece of Scandinavia in Northern Germany

Schleswig is about half an hour's drive south of Flensburg. In the Schleswig-Holstein state museums in Gottorf Castle, also just a few minutes' drive from the A7, you can marvel at a Viking boat. In nearby Haithabu on the Schlei, an entire Viking village was rebuilt.
