Do you want to escape the city for a while? Or maybe you prefer to go to a place that allows you to alternate urban and rural activities during your vacation? In both cases, Cascina Mottainai is what you are looking for, thanks to its strategic position in the hills of Emilia Romagna, about 20 minutes by car from Bologna.
Bordering the Parco Naturale dei Gessi e dei Calanchi, our small farm is completely off-grid, with little light pollution and lots of wildlife around – it seems impossible to believe we are so close to an urban centre! The surrounding area features numerous lakes and streams for fishing and swimming, mountain bike trails, green hillside views and hiking trails (such as the Via Mater Dei, easily accessible via a path from the farmhouse).
With a limited number of guests, you can enjoy a peaceful experience that provides plenty of space to breathe in the fresh air and immerse yourself in the rural tranquility. The facilities are simple, designed to preserve this peace, but guests still have access to bathrooms, showers and wi-fi, as well as a campfire area with a covered table and chairs nearby. Dogs and children are welcome to enjoy all this serenity with you, with the possibility of playing in a real house in the woods, or building sand castles in the sandbox.
The center of Pianoro is about 10 minutes by car and is a convenient place to buy what you need in the shops. There are also restaurants and cafes (the closest is about a twenty minute walk from the property).

Our rural hillside setting offers space for 2-3 campers/vans and up to 4 tents, with the possibility of showering, using the bathroom, walking, lighting a fire and relaxing. The terrain is uneven but the pitches are all flat, either on dirt or gravel. For those who love mountain biking and trekking, the surroundings are dotted with paths for all tastes and levels of difficulty.
