  • Description of the environment: In 2012 we discovered this wonderful spot in the Elbe floodplain and quickly decided to move our center of life from Rhine kilometer 511 to Elbe kilometer 511. The fact that we ended up on the same kilometer of river is pure coincidence. The fact that we ended up in the Elbe floodplain is not the case.
    To the left and right of the Elbe there is an extraordinary cultural landscape that invites you to discover it. Between Cumlosen and Lauenburg the Elbe was a border river for almost 100 km. Many silent witnesses still speak of the time when our country was divided. The “Village Republic of Rüterberg” also has its own story, which we would be happy to tell you.
    The Hanseatic cities of Hamburg, Wismar, Uelzen and Lüneburg invite you to take day trips. Our state capital Schwerin attracts with its lake landscape. Museums, theaters, parks, cycle paths – there are many ways to spend your day in Schwerin.
    Hitzacker, Dannenberg, Lüchow, Salzwedel, Arendsee, Wittenberge, Grabow, Ludwigslust... Each city has its own charm and special features that are worth discovering.
    A wide network of cycle paths surrounds Dömitz, and the Elbe cycle path runs directly behind the garden. We provide you with simple bicycles free of charge. Use at your own risk. In Dömitz it is also possible to rent additional bikes - including electric bikes.
    Dömitz is located at a waterway intersection: the Elde-Müritz waterway crosses the Löcknitz and then flows into the Elbe. We offer you the opportunity to explore the river landscape by boat. You can rent our sea kayaks and folding boats.
    Swimming opportunity - Our recommendation: visit the clay pit. Nestled magically in the forest, you can often enjoy bathing fun all alone. Wonderful groundwater caresses the skin. If you are completely quiet, with a bit of luck you can watch the kingfisher catching fish. The clay pit does not have a sandy beach, the shallow water zone is only very short, which is why the clay pit is only recommended for experienced swimmers. Swimming is at your own risk.
    Even if the weather isn't so nice, there are many ways to have a nice day on vacation. The aforementioned swimming pools in Gatow, Wittenberge and Bad Wilsnack, with sauna facilities, are waiting for visitors. Interesting museums open their doors. The ski hall in Wittenburg offers winter fun in summer.
