Romantic, idyllic, picturesque. Arnis, Germany's smallest town, lies on a peninsula in the Schlei fjord, not far from Kappeln. Visitors can, for example, walk around the town on the old church path. Long, sweeping gardens extend to the Noor (a small inlet) and, on the southeastern side, to the Schlei fjord. Boat jetties, the occasional fishing net, and marinas complete the maritime flair. And with four shipyards for 300 inhabitants, it likely holds the world record – as well as the record for the number of berths per inhabitant. This testifies to the town's maritime importance.
