Campsite at the Las Niñas Dam
This campsite, with capacity for 100 people and 28 caravans, is located in the municipality of Tejeda, near one of the most important dams in the peaks of Gran Canaria, the Cuevas de las Niñas dam, in Majada Alta or simply Las Niñas. It is a large capacity campsite where you can enjoy an environment with one of the most characteristic elements of the socioeconomic development of Gran Canaria: its dams.
If you plan to camp, don't forget to request a permit from the Cabildo of Gran Canaria and find out about the regulations. Please note that you must apply for authorization at least 3 working days before the date of your overnight stay. We definitely recommend that you go early if you want to get a seat, both to park your car and to find free tables. You should not have any problems with the caravan if you have asked for permission.
Camping next to a dam
The Las Niñas Dam campsite is located on the banks of the dam of the same name and in the protected area of ​​the Nublo Natural Park and in the heart of the Gran Canaria Biosphere Reserve. The main attraction why thousands of people decide to camp at this place every year is the freshness and beauty offered by the dam, which occupies an area of ​​almost 30 hectares. To know its origin, we must go back to 1930, the year in which the construction project was carried out to collect water from several nearby ravines and use it for agricultural purposes, which continues to this day. The 32-metre-high wall from the bottom of the gorge was built in three stages between 1935 and 1958, the year of its completion, and is one of the most important structures on the island.
