To make your motorhome holiday in Austria perfect: The vignette costs from €12.40 for 10 days (as of 2025), wild camping is prohibited, but over 600 official campsites await you. Most mountain campsites are open from May to October, some often all year round.

Average costs: Pitches range from free to premium sites costing €70 per night. On average, you'll pay around €20 to €25 per night. Diesel fuel in Lister cost approximately €1.55 per liter in summer 2025. Mountain lifts cost between €25 and €45 per person in summer – some campsite operators offer tourist summer passes that allow you to use some of the lifts for free. Best time to travel: Anytime! In winter, some of the world's best ski resorts, cross-country ski trails, and frozen lakes await ( Lake Weissensee in Carinthia is a reliable ice skating lake from the end of December).
